It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of one of the firm’s founders, Ken Blumenthal, on September 21, 2023. Ken had a remarkable career in the law over the past forty years, during which time he was widely considered one of the best trial lawyers in the state of Ohio. He obtained his Juris Doctorate degree with honors from Capital University Law School in 1983. Ken started his rise in the field of civil litigation at Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur, LLP before joining Lampkin, Van Eman, Trimble, Beals & Rourke, LLP in 1995. In 2002, Ken and his close friend and colleague Michael Rourke started
Rourke & Blumenthal, dedicating their practice to the representation of individuals who had suffered harm and loss due to negligence of others.
Ken’s many accomplishments in the courtroom included an $8.5 million verdict for a man whose arm was amputated due to unsafe workplace conditions, and a $3.3 Million verdict on behalf of a woman who lost the use of her legs due to a missed diagnosis, one of the highest ever obtained against an Ohio university hospital system. Ken was a true gentleman who leaves behind a remarkable legacy, and he will be remembered by countless clients, attorneys, judges and other members of Ohio’s legal community for generations to come.
