If you own a Cuisinart food processor that you bought between July 1996
and December 2015, don’t use it until you read this blog. Following
a voluntary recall from product manufacturer Conair on Tuesday, an estimated
8 million of the company’s food processors are unsafe to use until
further inspection or replacement. It was discovered that blades within
numerous models can crack apart during regular use and leave tiny, embedded
bits of metal in the food. So far, 69 people have reported the metal slivers
in their food, and 30 of them suffered cracked teeth or mouth lacerations.
The model numbers subject to the recall begin with one of the following:
- CFP-9 or 11
- DFP-7, 11, or 14
- DLC-5, 7, 8, 10, XP, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014, 3011, or 3014
- EV-7, 10, 11, or 14
Models numbers should be found on the underside of each product. If you
cannot locate the model number, you might be able to identity the recalled
blades by sight. The recalled blade has serrated edges, is double-crescent-shaped,
has a beige plastic center, and four rivets encircling the beige center.
